I love this piece. Reminds me of something I wrote in highschool after going on a deep dive - in the infancy of the modern internet mind you - on hermit crabs. The idea of someTHING from space living by kitbashing lured spacefarers has stuck with me a long time.

I would guess in a more realistic setting they'd send in a probe first before humans, no?

Given how fast interstellar objects are moving through the solar system, the expense and ambition of getting anything to reach them would be enormous. You might be able to send probes at the same time, but the energy expenditure to reach them would mean that you would probably just put your eggs in one basket or another. Regardless, meat or metal, its all sustenance to this guy 😁
